Olly Timing privileged to support the 2024 Sydney Open

Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre hosted the 2024 Sydney Open incorporating Unisport Nationals 9-11th May.

Organisers, Swimming NSW, sought support from Olly Timing to provide backup times in place of human timekeepers during the heats.

The 3 day program featured several international swimmers. To avoid any possible questions about the validity of world records, traditional timekeepers were used during the finals sessions.

Swimming NSW Events Manager, Melissa Gorgijovski, commented “Having supported the development and validation of Olly Timing at Swimming NSW events in 2023 and 2024 it was very helpful to use Olly Timing for an event that Swimming NSW typically struggles to get timekeepers for at this time of the season with these competitors.”

“We also found that Olly Timing video was extremely valuable for our officials to verify results”, added Melissa.

Big benefits of proven innovation

Olly Timing Founder, Ben Ramsden, said “We are very proud that that Swimming NSW now has the confidence to use Olly Timing’s world first artificial intelligence technology at one of their highest profile events”.

In addition to saving over 3 weeks of volunteer timekeeper effort, Olly Timing’s race video review function enabled results queries to be authoritatively resolved.
